I'll plan to post a follow-up on how successful this strategy was after I complete the hike.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02360120558931602663noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2270245284025810707.post-83588249074885607892012-02-06T12:42:31.482-08:002012-02-06T12:42:31.482-08:00This comment has been removed by the author.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02360120558931602663noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2270245284025810707.post-1277864498993454872012-02-05T20:40:46.107-08:002012-02-05T20:40:46.107-08:00Great post and helpful tips. Step #1 - buy one of those machines! I don't want to be loaded down with food that don't want on the trail. But I am having fun and learning a lot by preparing just half the meals at home. I know I won't be starving for nutrition when I get out there!Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02360120558931602663noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2270245284025810707.post-70249349417901235572012-02-03T10:13:00.745-08:002012-02-03T10:13:00.745-08:00Hey Russ,

I saw people with all mailed in re-supply and people who bought as they went (which is what I did and will do again this year). Mixing it up like you are allows you to be happier with your diet. For me, between Deep Creek and Cajon Pass was where I started to developed likes and dis-likings for certain things. Keep your options open right?

See you at Kick Off.

DanDanhttp://www.danswalk.netnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2270245284025810707.post-70180523781756661592012-01-28T15:17:23.646-08:002012-01-28T15:17:23.646-08:00When I've done food for thrus before, I aimed ...When I've done food for thrus before, I aimed for 4-5 ounces (of dry food) per serving.

See you at Ko! :)Dicentrahttp://www.onepanwonders.comnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2270245284025810707.post-85158991417645384592012-01-18T20:30:03.390-08:002012-01-18T20:30:03.390-08:00Dicentra: Yes I will be at KO! If you saw how much food it was before it was dehydrated, maybe you would change your mind. I think maybe the picture is a little misleading as well because you can't really see how full it is. I'm going to make more so I will do some pre-dehydration pre-portioning make sure it looks right and then re-evaluate. Thanks for your comments!Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02360120558931602663noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2270245284025810707.post-4183493899340561492012-01-18T17:43:23.478-08:002012-01-18T17:43:23.478-08:00Hey! That pic of the stew? It doesn't look like enough food for a thru hiker. Double or triple it. No, seriously.Dicentrahttp://www.onepanwonders.comnoreply@blogger.com
