The Expert Vagabond - Around the World Adventure Travel
Ever wish you could quit our job, sell your house and car, and travel around the world indefinitely? Matthew Karsten has done it and he will show you how!
Vagabonding Life
Gregory Rodgers has a compelling story. He took a bold step in 2005 by leaving his job at IBM, selling his house and buying a ticket to Bangkok. He has been living out of a rucksack ever since!
Rolf Pott's, Vagablogging
The venerable author of "Vagabonding: An Uncommon Guide to the Art of Long-Term World Travel" shares his daily blog with us here! If you haven't read the book, I highly recommend you pick it up.

HIKING & OUTDOORS
Pacific Crest Trail Association Website
The nonprofit with a mission of protecting, preserving and promoting the Pacific Crest National Scenic Trail. This is the starting place for all your PCT trip planning.
is an extension of the PCT anthologies, and a place for PCT stories and images from the long-distance trail to be shared and expanded upon.
ADZPCTKO
...stands for Annual Day Zero Pacific Crest Trail Kick-Off. From their website - "The ADZ is about honoring those who strive to attain their goal. ADZ occurs at the beginning of the journey, not the end. It honors those who resign from the normal world and enter the zone of the long distance hiker; a zone of challenge and simplicity; of camaraderie and solitude; of effort, failure, and reward."
Craig's PCT Planner
This is a FREE tool that should be invaluable to anyone planning a PCT thru-hike or section hike. You can punch in your start/end locations, your town stops, your rate in miles/day for each leg of the trip, and lay-over days and the tool spits out an itinerary that should be useful for planning.
Tarptent Ultralight Shelters
Many great options for lightweight shelters you will not find at REI or other local gear shops. I am planning my 2012 PCT thru-hike using either the highly rated Contrail or the new Notch one-person shelter.
One Pan Wonders
A great resource for all your trail food needs including dehydration techniques and recipes.
American Long Distance Hiker Association - West
ALDHA is an organization of individuals interested in the pursuit of all aspects of Long Distance hiking.
Hiking Blogs
I happened upon this sight searching for sites that allow you to post a blog link. This is a great resource for finding other hiking blogs. You can search by location and key word.
Hiking Trip Reports - Best Hiking Blogs
Looking for some great winter reading to get you through the cold months? Light a fire (or turn on the gas) and pull up a chair.
Ancient Pathways - Outdoor Programs in Desert Survival and Bushcraft
Ancient Pathways offers wilderness survival, primitive skills and bushcraft courses out of Flagstaff, AZ. Tony Nestor started the company in 1989. From experience (I participated in the 1-day "Kife-Only Survival Course" this past summer) his courses are extremely well-designed and I came away feeling much more confident in my survival skills. I will put up a more thorough review of my experience in the weeks to come. If you are near Flagstaff or can make a trip out for a few days, I highly recommend his courses!
Lakewood's Wanderings and Scribbles
John Fegyveresi (Trailname: Lakewood) has hiked the PCT, the AT, and is an avid ultra-marathoner. Whenever I start to get lazy or get a big head because I ran a marathon once, I read his blog and I am brought right back down to earth.
