A very big thank you to Stick-Pic for their sponsorship of my Pacific Crest Trail 2012 thru-hike!  This amazing little device allows the solo hiker to attach any camera with a tripod socket to the end of a trekking pole and take amazing self-portraits or video diaries.  With a quick adjustment of the pole length and the zoom on the camera, it is virtually impossible to tell that the picture was not taken by another person.  At only 11 grams this will be the smallest and possibly the most useful piece of gear in my backpack!
